President Herminie Visits Seychellois Patients in Chennai

President of Seychelles, Dr Patrick Herminie, visited Seychellois patients receiving treatment at SIMS Hospital in Chennai on the first day of his Official State Visit to India.

He met patients and their families, including his colleague and friend Dr Reginald. He conveyed the government’s support and wished them a steady recovery.

The President was accompanied by First Lady Véronique Herminie and Health Minister Dr Marvin Fanny. During the visit, he listened to patients’ experiences. He also reassured them of the government’s commitment to ensuring access to quality and compassionate healthcare for Seychellois at home and abroad.

Later, President Herminie met SIMS Hospital management and medical staff. They discussed ways to strengthen cooperation with Seychelles’ health sector. Talks focused on specialised treatment, capacity building, and medical training. They also explored potential partnerships to support healthcare services in Seychelles.

President Herminie arrived in Chennai in the early hours of 5 February 2026. Indian Minister Dr M Mathiventhan and members of the diplomatic corps received the delegation. The visit aims to reaffirm relations between Seychelles and India and expand cooperation in areas including maritime security, economic development, climate action, and regional cooperation in the Indian Ocean.
