The launch of SEYPEC’s first newly built tanker marks a defining moment for Seychelles, after the vessel’s hull entered the water this week.
The launch took place at the Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry shipyard in China. In maritime tradition, this marks the moment a vessel first meets the water.
The development signals the beginning of a new chapter for the national fleet.
The Chief Executive Officer of SEYPEC, Adrian Mondon, said the milestone reflects a step forward.
“This moment marks the start of a new era for Seychelles shipping and a clear step forward for SEYPEC,” he said.
He added that the investment extends beyond the vessel.
“This investment strengthens our ability to support the country’s energy needs while creating new opportunities for Seychellois seafarers,” Mr Mondon said.
The launch represents progress, ambition and what lies ahead for the national fleet.
